Aquatrek's Crew


Rick Wolfe
Master Instructor, American heart Association BLS Instructor, ASHI training site Director.

Rick first tried diving with Virginia Western Community College in an introduction to Scuba class in 1973. He became certified in 1990 and a PADI instructor in 1996 . He became an SSI Instructor in 2002 and is an SSI Master Instructor . His other job is as an Instructional Assistant in Special Education for Roanoke County . As an American Heart Association BLS instructor and ASHI instructor, he teaches Basic Life Support and First Aid. Rick also serves as an adjunct instructor for Virginia Western Community College . He has been diving with Marvin for a long time as Marvin was the Dive Master for his Open Water Dives in 1990. He also trained in cave diving with Eric Tasso, Mark Lenonard and Lamar Hires. It should be not a surprise that his favorite dive destination is also Akumal , Mexico for Cave Diving. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Speleological Society- Cave Diving Section. Rick enjoys most outdoor pursuits including cycling, hiking and canoeing. He is married to Darlene (otherwise known as “Sugarpie”). They share their home with their German Shepherd, Magnum and Chocolate Lab, Bo.


Marvin Perdue
Dive Control Specialist Instructor/ TechXR Instructor/Co-Owner; Aquatrek Adventures

Marvin has been diving since 1984 and his favorite dive destination is Akuma,l Mexico. He is an accomplished technical diver. He was certified in Cave Diving in 1988 training with Mark Leonard and Lamar Hires. He also trained in deep diving in the 1980's with Hal Watts culminating in a dive in excess of 300ft on compressed air in the Bahamas . He has made many challenging technical dives including the Andrea Doria. Marvin's training and experience make him a valuable resource in support of our SSI TXR technical training program. In addition to instructing, Marvin is also our Lead Equipment Technician. His qualifications include a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and factory training from Sherwood, Genesis, Poseidon, and Dive Rite. Marvin's is a Dentist serving as an Adjunct Instructor – Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. In his “spare time” enjoys construction (he is building his own house), antique automobiles (love those Studebakers) and diving with his wife Anne, children and grandchildren.
Danny Kane
SSI Advance Open Water Instructor,Co-owner; Aquatrek Adventures

Danny is an Open water instructor that owns and operates several business' including Kanes Communications and B2X internet broadband service. Danny is active with a dive rescue team on Smith Mountain Lake . Diving is also a family affair for Danny as he like diving the tropics with his wife Sonja. Danny's other interests include boating, jet skis, and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He also loves spending time on Smith Mountain Lake with his extended family including two daughters and two grandchildren.



Chuck Swecker

Dive Control Specialist Instructor

Chuck has been certified in diving since 1978 and his favorite dive destination is Cozumel Mexico . Chuck's “other job” is a Captain Firefighter/EMT for the City of Roanoke. Chuck is a team member and instructor for Technical Rescue and Swift Water Rescue. His qualifications and experience provide an added a level of expertise to our Stress Rescue classes. Aquatrek's Stress Rescue students demonstrate ability and confidence reflective of Chuck's years of training Public Safety personnel. Chuck is also an avid outdoorsman that loves any type of shooting sports and taking the lovely Lola (a Rhodesian Ridgeback) for walks in the woods. Diving is a family affair for Chuck as he is married to another Aquatrek instructor, Meg Swecker.



Meg Swecker

Dive Control Specialist Instructor

Meg has been diving since 2002 and an instructor since 2005. Meg says she is an 80-80-80 diver. She likes diving in 80 degree water, with 80 feet of visibility, in depths up to 80 feet. Meg loves the life and beauty of tropical waters. It is this joy of diving that makes Meg one of the best Open Water Instructors anywhere. Meg makes sure you have fun and a great time. Meg is a teacher for Roanoke County Schools and an adjunct instructor at Virginia Western Community College teaching web design and technology seminars. This is valuable expertise for Aquatrek as she is also the web-master for the shop. Like the rest of us Meg has other hobbies and activities she enjoys. She teaches Pilates, Aerobics and Yoga. We wonder where she finds time but she loves to garden. Meg loves her Daylilies and is very active in a Daylily Club. Other than Chuck, the other great love of her life is Rosie, the Basset Hound.


David Rankin

Dive Control Specialist Instructor
Dave has been diving since the 70's . He is a long-time dive buddy of Rick and Marvin being a founding member of the T&D dive team, so guess where he likes to dive. Cave Diving in Florida and of course Akumal , Mexico . Dave will soon be Dr. Dave completing his doctorate in education. He works for Chesterfield County schools. Dave also has varied interest, most notably Quarter horses. Diving is also a family affair for Dave as his daughter Paxton and son Townsend are accomplished divers.



Ed Scott

Dive Con

Ed was certified in 1978 and has logged 1000 dives not including those he has done for the US Coast Guard above the Artic Circle . Ed's favorite dive destination is the East Coast of Florida. Ed enjoys underwater photography and video. Ed is a US Army veteran having served two tours in Vietnam and awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for Valor. This is just a few of his honors. After the Army, Ed also served in the US Coast Guard where he honed his skills as a diver. Ed also worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as a River Boat Pilot. Ed has a wealth of experience and it well worth the time to come by Aquatrek and chat with him in the “DECO STOP”. You can learn a lot. Ed is retired but loves spending time with his daughter and two grandchildren.

Chris Walker

Dive Con

Chris has been diving since 1992 and enjoys photography both above and below water. His love of photography may be why his favorite dive destination is the crystal clear springs of North Florida . Chris served in the US Navy as a medical corpsman and currently serves as a volunteer fireman. He works for an internet photo file sharing service. Other activities Chris enjoys include the Scottish Military Society and spending time with his wife Heather.

Richard "Dickie" Bryant

Dive Con
Dickie has been diving since 1981. He is a PADI Dive Master and is completing the SSI Dive Control Specialist program. His favorite dive destination is Exuma Key. He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, and boating. One of his favorite things to do is snowmobiling on the upper peninsula of Michigan with his brother Lance. He also enjoys working out at the Botetourt Athletic Club and spending time with friends. He supports all his hobbies by working as a Truck Driver for UPS.
